That's how Canon captures the market in unit terms. It just sells old stock at bottom low prices.

Anyway, this is largely useless trivia, but seeing what entry level mirrorless cameras are sold for, you could easily make a case that E-PL9 should take part in this race to the bottom and be priced in the 300-400 EUR range, where it would probably just generate losses or some marginal profit for Olympus.

Alas, it seems like Olympus simply chooses to price the new model higher and picking up more price sensitive customers by discounting the older model. And the older model can piggy back on the marketing campaign of the new model (they are similar enough).

Sounds smart to me. Not only are you selling more than some of the competition, you do that at a higher price point. Win-win.

BTW, what's the best selling MILC camera on German Amazon? Da daaa... Sony A6000 It's been sitting at the top non-stop for most of the time, only temporarily dethroned by some hotter new releases.

Somewhat shockingly, E-M10 Mark III is at #3. Go figure.
