Is longevity of storage media influenced by the amount of use? Surely a hard disc drive that's used daily will wear out sooner than one that's used only once every few months? In my brief browse I could see no mention of this.

Honestly like the other guy said it is a lot of work. I haven't read it all thoroughly much less applied it. I've decided to keep it simple with a time machine backup, a bootable backup, a backup with all data (pics, docs, etc) on an external drive backed up again twice, and a cloud backup. If that doesn't do it f**k it.
