Well if you insist on using the kit lens ... I suppose 14-42mm is a reasonable zoom range for indoor work, but the minimum f stop you can achieve - especially at 42mm - is somewhat high. And church interiors can be quite dim.

...

That's 1/50 sec at f/2; 1/25 sec t f/2.8; 1/12 sec at f/4; 1/6 sec at f/5.6. Or, alternatively, to keep 1/100 sec at f/5.6 you would need to use ISO 3200. I think you will find noise at ISO 3200 to be undesirable. It's not that you can't get tame it, you can; but of course at the expense of sharpness.

Agree! I was shooting video of my children last night in typical room lighting with a gx85 (which I assume is close to g85 in low light performance). I had to expose at iso 3200 and 6400. Both IMO would be unacceptable for anything other than casual personal video. Even iso 1600 would be borderline if I were doing work for others.

Understood.

The church and other public venues as I said in OP could be all over the map and no, I don't insist. I believe I have made it clear that for other venues, different lenses will be considered. I just want to be able to get off the ground with the kit lens if at all possible. Also, as I have previously indicated, supplemental lighting will be part of the solution to keep us out of the "grass" if needed in the home. If I had a light meter and experience with it, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation...

JosephScha, There is real benefit in dealing with the numbers as you have but for me there are some unknown quantities that lurk in there. Correlation to actual ambient levels and some others. I will bear your comment in mind as I work through this.

Tim200, you don't indicate the lens in use. I don't want to assume - can you confirm? I would appreciate a short clip or frame grab if you wouldn't mind as well.

Thanks again,

QT
