Re: Two questions about using the NX500...

I received a couple of PMs asking for a photo of the NX500 attached to my modified Cambo WDS as well as some more info about how I accomplished this. Well, here's the photo:

As for how I did it, I started with a 58mm reverse ring, which I purchased for a few bucks on eBay and which allows lenses to be reverse-mounted onto a Samsung NX-series body for taking better-quality macro photos with non-macro lenses.

I then removed the 58mm threaded portion of the ring, leaving just the NX bayonet and a broad, flat ring around it. Next, I drilled and tapped four M4 x.7 mounting holes into the flat portion of the ring and used screws through these holes to attach it to the large aluminum plate I fabricated to mount onto the rear of the Cambo and which I clamped into place using four small tabs.

Ultimately, I had to add an additional, 1.2mm thick piece of aluminum sheet to shim the NX500 body further back from the aluminum plate so the lens will focus at infinity when the focus ring is set at infinity (otherwise, the lens focuses at infinity with the focus ring set at approx. 3 meters.)

Right now, the camera is limited to taking horizontal format photos, but if I choose to continue developing this, the black aluminum shim will be used as part of a clamping mount that will allow the NX500 body to rotate 90 degrees.

All of this was accomplished using minimal tools (drill press, disc and belt sanders, hacksaw and files) and cost me less than $5 total because I was able to use scrap pieces of aluminum sheet I already had on hand.
