When I think of all the money spent on digital cameras since 1999, I get a little sick. But it has been an amazing journey. My first DSLR was the D1X (still have), followed by the D100 (just recently bought the farm). But in camera bodies alone, I've spent in excess of $27,000 From model to model I've had the privilege of experiencing the evolution of the imaging sensor (some say being the guinea pig). Its been fun.
