G80 customisation
2

This follows on from a previous post.

The detailed customisations listed here relate to my particular use-cases, which are mainly to do with close-up/macro, so these details won't interest most folk here. However, I thought the overall approach might be of interest.

I have at last managed to get a second G80 that does not have permanent dark spots on the sensor (back story here and here). One will have an Olympus 60mm macro on it most or all of the time. The other will have a Panasonic 45-175 on it most or all of the time (possibly a 50-200 in due course, although I expect that will be too expensive .

I have made LCD hoods for them (I use LCD almost all the time) and have put Sugru on most of the buttons so I can quickly locate the right button by touch, including when wearing light gloves.

I have set up the LCD/EVF screens to leave the image area clear.

I have customised the settings and function buttons for four use-cases:

  • C1 - General use using single shots or exposure bracketing
  • C2.1 - Single shot flash macro
  • C2.2 - Aperture bracket
  • C2.3 - Focus bracket and post focus

Here are the details. Happy to discuss any of the particulars if of interest.
