Re: Pany G7 vs G85 vs G9

I would add the GX85 here, which is almost as good as the G85, but has a built in flash that you can use as a bounce flash.

So, basically, I like the G85 even though it is 93 grams heavier. The color is a bit better than the G7, and the IS works a treat. It's just a bit sharper because of the AA filter, and the new shutter is super smooth and quiet. I also really like the lens parking feature of the G85, you can set it to "remember" your lens settings like the focus point when you turn the camera off.For my hands, the G85 is a good grip.

The GX85 viewfinder is better for video, but, even so the G85 viewfinder is big and bright. Manual focus with the viewfinder is very easy on the G85. The G9 has a bigger magnification for the viewfinder which is very immersive, so if you rely on the viewfinder, factor that in. But the G85 viewfinder is very good.

You can buy a super cheap battery base for the G85 as well from DSTE. It doubles your battery life and adds all kinds of custom buttons.

The G9 will give you pixel shifting if you have really still landscapes, so if you want that feature, it will cost you extra.

Lots of nice choices here, and don't forget the tiny GM cameras which take great stills, they just don't have the latest features. With a 14mm pancake, or the 12-32 kit lens which has IS and is super sharp, you have a pocketable camera.
