My G1X3 arrived from B&H yesterday. Great little camera so far. But I think I can lay the filter use question to rest. With the camera I ordered a Hoya 37mm HD circular polarizer and it works just fine without vignetting or other issues with the lens closing or focusing, etc. B&H lists the filter size of 37mm in their specifications and they usually repeat official doctrine. So

Also, I ordered a cheapo 37mm lens cap that is thinner and works better than the OEM Canon which seems like it wants to get stuck.

I'll add that being able to use a polarizer is mandatory for any camera I have. The Sony RX100V and Canon G5 and G7 cameras all require a glue on adapter from Lensmate.

Good to know; thanks.

I’ve decided to put my filter back on. And get a polarizer. And maybe a lens cap, too. That’s the one thing about this camera I really dislike.
