Yes I will not send the G9 back complaining that the evf is not up to scratch I think it is very worthy of the level of camera that it is set up to be. I would be more worried if it became subject to evf sunburn spots like the E-M1 is prone to but the sequential field evf units does not seem to get.

Just for the avoidance of doubt (I'd be alarmed if I thought the G9 had a sequential field EVF as I don't get on well with those due to being able to see their red/green/blue sequencing on any white areas, such as the graphics) - the G9 has, like the G7, G80/85 and GH5 models, an OLED EVF and these are not sequential field. But just like those, it isn't vulnerable to sunburn. The sunburn problem seems to be a characteristic limited to the Epson Ultimicron panel (1.44M dots) used in the E-M5, E-M10 and VF-2 (plus other brands of camera also) and the Super Ultimicron (2.36M dots) of the E-M1, E-M5 II, and (theoretically) the E-M1 II - I qualify the latter as I haven't heard anybody mention it in this model yet, so maybe a filter has been added. In the case of those that can get it, it requires a high + adjustment on the dioptre control and a direct, strong sunlight "hit" through the eyepiece to occur, apparently.

Thanks fo your usual capable advice Helen.  Luckily I don’t apparently have the eyesight issues that can make sequential field evf units a trial.  I find them no problem at all.

My E-M1 had severe evf sunburn spots within a couple of months of ownership.  Repaired it seemed to be cured and my nervousness abated as I thought it must have been now fitted with an effective screening filter.  Bt recently I have noticed that a few very small cosmetic spots have re-appered.  This is at least 18 months or more later, but it is a return serve of the same thing even if it is a smaller one.

I do need a substantial dioptre adjustment on my evf units but it is the same setting on all my camera bodies and my Panasonic ones have never had this issue.  The cameras are all used in a very similar manner.

Therefore being chided by others (not your good self) that setting high dioptre leads to sunburn spots on Olympus evf units is not an excuse.  The dioptre setting is there to be used and being used in other camera bodies does not lead to evf sunburn issues.

It is simply mechanically defective and not suitable for its designed purpose.  This is beyond a simple warranty fix issue.

I do hope that there will be no issues with the G9 evf as its great big evf mst be a huge target winking at the sun.
