I think it should be a heat sink, and IIRC be fixed on the back of the sensor.

It explains why GX85 is slightly smaller, using a plastic case instead of a metal alloy one, but has gained in weight. I guessed that it might also be a reason that Pany put a fixed evf on GX85 because the plastic case should not be strong enough to hold the hints of the flippable evf.
