On my G9 the distortion looks more severe when using the lower magnification modes. I also notice more distortion when I hold the camera verticly. I checked another copy in a camera shop this afternoon as I wondered if I had a faulty camera viewfinder. it showed the same distortion as mine.

I can understand some people not being concerned with the distortion however for me its very obvious and distracting especially in urban scenes with lots of straight lines. it seems like an unnecessary design flaw in a camera thats not inexpensive.

Overall so far seems a better camera than my G85, but perhaps a little heavy. The size is not an issue for me. Just wish they had sorted the EVF properly.

I've just received mine and on first use I was not aware of the pincushion effect (I use my cameras with the eyecup pressed against my eye socket bone, maybe that has an effect?) No sign of the "smeary" appearance some have mentioned

Early days yet though

(if I pull my eye back a little then the pincushion does begin to show)

So much to learn, so little time left to do it!
