I'm enjoying all of this info from you early adopters! Now the big question for us G85 owners is whether to go for the G9 at all. I've enjoyed the G85 and my newly acquired E-m5II so much that it's hard to see what the G9 will provide that they don't, from a realistic viewpoint. I know I would like to have it from the sheer pleasure in owning a nice piece of hardware, but I'm not sure that's enough to sway me. The reviews are inconsistent and the comments in this thread and others on the forum are very welcome.

Dick

I've only had the G9 for 4 days but have done a lot if shooting, mostly birds, mostly static but some BIFs

If you are happy with the g85 in the field, why get the G9.? I can't speak to all the issues in the review, I haven't really "tested" hi speed shooting, havent encountered problems with EVF, etc... I "upgraded" 90% for ergonomics, spending $ because I was getting very frustrated with the G85. Specifically, I found that changing settings with the size, position, feel of the buttons and controls was very difficult. I use camera on a monopod, never use touchscreen while shooting.

So far I'm almost completely happy with the g9. It feels more natural to operate, the combination of joystick and dedicated focus point mode button really allows me to change on the fly in a way I could not with the g85.

Both the EVF and LCD are much improved. Another big peeve I had with the g85 is that I experienced a long lag between pressing button when camera is in sleep to getting evf on, focusing and and shoot. I missed a lot of shots. The g9 seems much quicker, almost SLR like "out of the starting gate"

I'm not trying to convince you or anyone to buy this. I guess you have to decide what you feel you are missing in what you have and if the g9 will provide it.
