Is there any wide or ultra-wide angle lens out there that you would recommend? Something in the 14-18mm range for APS-C?

The 10-18mm STM IS. Don't let the price fool you: it's a very nice lens. I don't think you could improve on it without going with FF body and L lens.

I second the above statement. I recently purchased the EF-S 10-18mm and am kicking myself for not buying it much earlier. It performs well above its price point.

Thirded (if thats a real word). Amazed a lens so cheep can produce such good images. This lens made me realise that Canon have a good thing going with their STM line.

I already have the EF-S 10-18mm. Yes it is cheap and really good for the price point.

But I'd like to have something sharper and with less chromatic aberration. At least my lens suffers from it. When doing architecture with harsh edges it quickly becomes ugly.

It is fairly easy to get rid of chromatic aberrations in post processing or in-camera by activating the lens profile to remove it for JPGs SOOC.  Have you tried stopping the lens down to f/8, or so, to increase sharpness?  Or use a tripod if you don't already?
