Putting my old Super CoolScan 4000 back to work again.

My slide scanning project has run in fits and spurts for almost 15 years.

I am over 1/2 way done now.

I just got my film scanner up and running in Win7 after a day of wrassling with it.

I'm now scanning old slides from the late '80s.

I'm running into something I haven't seen before.

Artifacts on slide film

More artifacts

These lines on the images look like possibly threads with dust motes on them, or maybe the feeding track of some "bug".

The Digital ICE is removing them nicely from the final scans.

So, they are not any actual problem with getting the digital images, other than some loss of sharpness from processing them.

Does anyone recognize what these are?
