“Shag-bark hickory” stereography using monocular depth cues

(arranged for crossed gaze viewing)

Here is yet another example of the exclusive use of monocular depth cues in stereography.

Examples I have posted of monocular depth cue stereography (MDCS) have been criticized (unjustly, IMO) as failing to render surface contours and the mass of objects.
Presented here is one of many examples I have available that clearly disprove that reprehensible calumny! The trunk of this shag-bark hickory tree displays not only the dimensionality of its rugged mass but also its fascinating irregular pattern of bark dehiscence...with surfacial contours galore!

And, I might add, depth recession with MDCS is unaccompanied by the dread “cardboarding” (characteristic of some/many examples of binocular depth cue stereography).i

Comments and critiques are welcomed.

Best regards,
Dave
