When I bought my first digital P&S with manual controls (Canon A620) I said to myself - I am not going to buy another camera until I feel that I have reached aboulutely maximum potential of this little guy. About a year later, I shot a family portrait for the first time in full manual mode with gorgeous bokeh from such a tiny sensor exactly because I knew how to get it. This is when I realized that I am ready to move to the next level.
