F-stop blues tested - it changes the color, too!
2

I was playing to day to test my new 5D4 - how much the RAW is cooked with fast lenses. I have done this in the past with other cameras. I would take a shot at f/1.2 with my 50L, then unscrew it slightly so that the camera can think that it is a manual lens and take a shot again.

I noticed something unexpected. The camera cooks the RAW and makes it brighter, and fixes the vignetting a bit. That was expected. But it changes the color significantly! The correction makes the image greener! WB set to DayLight in LR, same exposure.

f/1.2

f/1.2, lens unscrewed

When I stop down to f/5.6, the colors get like the normal shot above, i.e., not so green. I tried my 100L as well and there is no change in the colors; they look like the 2nd shot here.

It seems that the correction is stronger in the G channel. I will inspect this later with RawDigger.
