Is the 5D classic still better than a modern APS-C in terms of noise?

It's common knowledge that the bigger the sensor, the less the noise with the same lens on it with the same ISO settings because more light hits a larger sensor.

However, looking up how the 5D performs, people comment that it doesn't perform very well in higher ISOs than current cameras.

But how does it perform against APS-C? Is it still worth it getting a FF camera like this?
