Nikkor 200-500 F5.6E ED VR lens creep normal?

I own the 200-500 lens and use it with a D500, overall a fantastic combo. The only issue I see is the lens creep when carrying pointed downwards, with the 200mm lock disengaged.

I observe slow creep when the lens is without the lens cap and hood.

When the hood is attached, the front has extra weight and a few minute walk with the lens pointed downwards will result in the front part of the lens fully extended to 500mm.

Now I know there is the 200mm lock intended for transportation, but locking and unlocking is annoying when just walking around.

Is this normal behavior for this lens?

My former telephoto lens was the 70-330 VR I and this one experienced no creep whatsoever regardless of the orientation of the camera during walking/hiking.
