Late, but still great

So lately I have been on an indecisive camera quest.  I have the Fuji XT10 (which I love sands the handling and speed), I picked up a Canon 6D Mark II thinking I would return to FF but I after sleeping on it decided to send it back.  I also picked up the Fuji XE3, which I hated and yesterday I decided on a whim to pick up an XT1 new body only for $599 from bhphoto.  Well I think I found my true love.  I have only spend 5 hours with the camera but it’s enough (and similar in some respects to my XT10) that I can draw a fair conclusion:

  • Size - Ok so I assumed from reading reviews this camera was huge.  It’s actually pretty small and doesn’t feel significantly bigger than my XT10 sans some
  • much needed “girth”.  Its small, but feels much more comfortable in hand.
  • Build Quality.  A significant step up from my XT10.  This camera feels very refined and professional.  It’s just lovely in comparison.
  • EVF.  Shut the front door.  This thing is huge and clear.  People on forums who stated that the XT10 viewfinder is perfectly fine lied lol.  There is no comparison.
  • LCD.  While the specs show only a minor upgrade, the difference seems significant to my eyes.  Better aspect ratio as well.
  • Performance.  In just about every single respect this camera feels faster than my XT10 and very DSLRish in speeds.
  • Focusing.  Pretty much instant.  Feels significantly faster than my XT10.
  • Image Quality.  Technically speaking there should be no difference. Maybe it’s placebo but files seem a bit cleaner and crisp, but probably just a result of the new camera effect.   I dunno ??
  • Ergonomics.  One word bliss.  Everything feels just right.  Not cramped like my XT10 and buttons feels better less plasticky.  I love the dials and how the top is layed out.
  • SD Card on the side door - thank god.  I hated the cramped SD card / battery compartment of my XT10.
  • Superb.  This is what a camera should be.  The XE3 may have had a touchscreen, Bluetooth and a new sensor, but to me the XT1 even being an older camera is still the more polished / refined product.  Hard to beat @ $599 new.
