I often check Flickr as well for samples, but keep in mind that people process images in different ways. Some people apply a lot of sharpening, some apply a lot of everything, others shoot jpg etc etc... It's a good way to have a general idea, though.

Side note: I've stopped using 500px because all my pics looked way oversharpened there, I much prefer Flickr.

Regarding the two cameras: have you looked into the d600 oil issue?

Nikon and Canon are both mature systems, but sometimes the "lens wishlist" can vary between the two, so the decision may also depend on what kind of shopping list you have down the road.

Talking about specs, the D600 is the better body but it's not a night & day difference.

When years ago I was in a similar situation I invested into Canon because I simply couldn't get a clear view through Nikon's viewfinders. I tried a D7100 and D600 for a while, I enjoyed the cameras and can't complain about their quality, but somehow I couldn't adjust the viewfinder in a way that fit my eyesight.
