Light Painting - Flood vs On-Camera

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to photography and am keen to learn light painting in conjunction with astrophotography. My main goal is to illuminate an object in the foreground however I'm unsure as to what type of light to use.

I’m looking at either the Onyx 15W Bi-Colour On-Camera LED light - http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=2103&categoryname=onyx-on-camera-series&model=oyb120

or the

ILED 144 Bi-Colour Flood Light

http://ikancorp.com/productdetail.php?id=296&categoryname=iled-series&model=iled144#tab

Does anyone have experiences with this type of photography and can they advise if its better to use a floor light with a narrower beam or a on-camera light with a wider beam angle and higher CRI?
