Excellent advice by Maxxxx I would just add about the polarizer, AF systems work better the more light they have and polarizers eat more than a stop of light so-- And probably best to follow the KISS principle in this situation. Have fun!

Mostly worried about managing the glare on the water.  There's plenty of light (the trip will start first thing in the morning), so I think AF won't be particularly challenging.  That said, there's something to be said for minimizing any additional glass between the lens and the subject.  Will have to see what the angle of the sun is and how much glare I have to deal with.  Might decide to add the filter after chimping a couple of test shots while we head out to the spot, but I believe in KISS as well and will try to avoid that if possible.

Many thanks!
