Question about filming 4K on Full Frame, but using APS-C lens.
1

Hey everyone. So I am an a6300 shooter and love the thing. I mainly use it for video work, but use it plenty for photos, timelapses etc... In any event, this year I plan on jumping to full frame with either the A7sii, or preferable the A7Siii whenever that happens.

My question is: what drawbacks are there to using an APS-C lens on a full frame for filming in 4K? Am I losing any real performance vs just using FF lenses, like noise performance? Are there any advantages to using APS-C on FF body vs on an APS-C body?

Sorry if the question is a little elementary. I am familiar with the advantages of FF vs crop, but since filming 4K uses a cropped portion of the sensor (6k downscale for Sony), I don’t really know how that would impact things.
