What I've been doing in recent years when I get a new laptop is to make a verified backup of the entire PC, then completely wipe the drive, partitions and all, and do a clean install of Windows from a Media Creation Tool.

Then I look in Device Manager and see if there are any other needed drivers; if so, I download and install them from either the device maker's website or the PC manufacturer.

This is exactly what I do also. However:

1. Dell, Lenovo et al typically install a folder with all their drivers. I make a copy of that before I wipe the drive!

2. You may need one of those. For example, I recently tried to get BlueTooth working on my Dell desktop. I tried all combinations of generic and OEM drivers. The only drivers that worked were the Dell supplied version. I think Dell sourced a custom controller from Qualcomm Atheros that required special drivers.
