Are you sure the filter is not cutting a thread for itself and it is just the diameter that is right. This issue on the lenses not being properly threaded for filters is very old and has been much discussed over the years. If there are signs that a filter has been forced on the lens that would seem a bit of a warranty killer.

Actually I imagine somebody did but, as is typical in large corporations, nothing was done with that information.

I’m not doing the lens hood. Defeats the purpose of having a small-profile travel camera. So I’ll just have to depend on the fiddly lens cap to do its job. I attached a cheap leash to it so at least it’s unlikely to disappear.
