Is Panasonic gear's reliability and durability levels comparable to Canon/Nikon gear?

Hi Anthony,

Here are closeups of my broken 14-140 Lumix lens, as requested, showing the internal mounts (what the bayonet mount is attached to).

Not being an engineer, I'll refrain from comment except to say it only fell about 300mm onto soft dusty earth. Also remember this is not a typical little m4/3 lens - it's a 10x zoom of 14 elements and weighs in at a fairly hefty 265 grams.

I've returned it with a note saying that it seemed to me to be inadequately robust for everyday use (given it lasted 2 days!), but I'm expecting to be charged for the repair, given it was accidental damage. We'll see.

I've replaced it with an as-new metal mount 14-42 - much lighter - and I'll use the 45-150, also a lightweight, for the long shots. Sometimes a nuisance to swap lenses or cameras, but more durable for fieldwork, I think.
