For the sceen, something to diffuse the surrounding pixels, like a small dot of vaseline over the bad pixel might do something like that though it averages in the bad pixel.

Or better, a small reflective nub covering the dead pixel that would take the off angle light from the surrounding pixels and aim it normal to the screen, like a tiny reflective pyramid, with hollowed out parabolic shaped faces.   Same could probably be done with refractive optics.
