D850 vs a7RIII for family pictures
45

I've completed a review of the two hot new all-rounders for family shots and events with no lights or modifiers using the 105/1.4 on the Nikon and the Batis 85 on the Sony.

http://blog.kasson.com/a7riii/a7riii-and-d850-use-comparison/

Conclusions:

  • These are both great cameras
  • The 105/1.4 is a great lens
  • The a7RIII AF is more accurate
  • The weight of the a7RIII and the Batis makes it much more portable
  • The user interface on the Nikon is more evolved, but Sony is closing the gap fast.
  • Having all focusing modes available when using the EVF and the LCD is a big win.
  • The D850 is faster-responding, but Sony is closing the gap fast
  • Eye-AF is great
  • These are both great cameras
