It can be called G3X Mark II or G2X, similar to the EOS M5 vs M3. Add a G1X III like built-in EVF to the superezoom G3X, I will buy one to replace my wife's SX40 HS.
You might not want to be too quick to dispose of your SX40HS to purchase a G3X Mark II (if it comes out). I have had 2 G3X's and the sold both when the image quality wasn't as good as my SX50HS for my type of photography. I wish it was better but it wasn't.

Thank you for letting me know. In which ways that the G3X IQ wasn't as good as your SX50 HS? Would you mind going into details, perhaps with a few sample images?
Sure...have a look and these and you be the judge. The aircraft was stopped for several minutes which allowed me to change cameras.
Here's the SX50HS image at 675mm.
Here's the G3X image at 545mm.
I remember you showing these images a long time ago. The G3X results are a bit depressing.
1" was fine for rinky dinky little compacts but it all goes a bit pear shaped when long zoom comes in to it. I hope canon can produce their own little 12mp 1/2.3" and re-introduce the SX50 and just up the speed of the processor speed and focusing and leave well alone elsewhere.
This whole upgrade business with more pixels, zoom and bigger sensors just ends up wrecking perfectly decent cameras.
I thought it might have been the camera so I sold it and purchased another. The same basic story was true and consistent for both cameras so the second one was sold off as well. I really wanted to like the G3X but at the end of the day it just didn't do as well as my SX50HS...very disappointing to say the least.
