Here is why a Canon FF MILC should use the EF-M mount.

The shorter flange back distance of the EF-M (18mm) vs EF (44mm) allows for compactness and higher optical performance.

In other words, EF-M is SHARPER

But you don't have to believe me or know the technical details why this is so. The ultimate prove is in the images.

Here are the samples where shows the superior sharpness of EF-M every single time, even L glass is not as sharp as low budget EF-M !!

Just hover the mouse in and out of the following images to swap samples and compare.

EF-M 22 f2 vs EF 40mm
EF-M 22 vs EF-S 24
EF-M 22 vs EF 24 f1.4L II
EF-M vs EF-S Kit lenses @35mm f8EF-M vs EF-S Wide Zoom lenses @17mm f8EF-M vs EF-S Tele Zoom lenses @100mm f8

Since we are talking about full frame, maybe you should compare some full frame lenses. Take a look at the Canon EF vs Sony E versions of the 16-35mm f2.8, 24-70mm f2.8, and 70-200mm f2.8. In every case, the shorter flange distance Sony E version appears to be worse than the Canon EF version.

The Sony 70-200 is weaker than the Canon and Nikon version but the 16-35/2.8 is as good as the Canon and the 24-70/2.8 seems to be slightly better.

The biggest obstacle to creating good lenses for e-mount is the width of the mount, not the flange distance.
