G9 and flash
Dec 28, 2017

Apologies if somebody already mentioned this, but I just noticed that the G9 is following the G80/81/85/8 example (and not the GH5 and GX8) in that it lacks that extra, gold-plated small contact in the hotshoe that transfers power - therefore it will not be compatible with camera-powered flashes such as the little one included with the GM5 and LX100, and (after a spot of surgery on the foot) the Olympus FL-LM3 weatherproof tilt/swivel flash. I wonder how they decide which models without a built in flash get this feature or not (given that some models WITH a built in flash, such as the G7 and GX80/85, do have the extra contact).
