Are you talking about the Mighty 16 -- Fuji's best prime? I think I have about 3000 images here shot with the 16 on this Flickr page in various trip albums.
ooooh I’ll check them out!
I think that lens has probably been on my camera more than any.
I love the 16....
But since I got the Brick a month ago and started loving it too, I must admit that it has intruded into my love affair with the Mighty 16. Is she jealous? Yes.
I just left the Mighty 16 home when we spent Christmas in Mexico. That's a first....
She was sad.
Do this. Get the Mighty 16, then put it on your camera and just walk around all day shooting. Try some super close focused objects wide open, then shoot it at F11....
Do some environmental portraits with your subject in the middle of the frame.
Use a polarizer on some water / sky / stone shots.... The 16 with a polarizer is great. You might lose the occasional shot to uneven skies. But it is worth it.
Then walk around at night and shoot some street scenes wide open. Then slap it on a tripod and shoot some night scenes stopped down a bit.
If you have dark skies and Milky Way, slap it on a tripod, and shoot the stars at about 22 seconds wide open at ISO 3200 (or maybe 1600). Some say to stop it down one stop with the stars, but try it both ways (coma).
excellent, I’ll try all these things. It’s the composition that scares me most with this lens. There’s just SO MUCH in the view. I’ll have some learning to do to make my subject stand out
Then just take the Mighty 16, put it on a table and stare at it for a few minutes. Then hold it in your hands.
love this advice best of all. Thanks!
But don't beat the Hell out of it like I have on my travels and hikes.... Be gentle with her. Although she is one tough lens....
