Sorry to disagree but you should do some more research and make your own conclusions. Check out the digital picture for direct comparisons. Scan the web for photos with the respective lenses. FWIW Art Morris loves the 100-400 with TC's for his images and it allows for hand holding. Personally, I can't advocate for the Sigma - it's build quality is iffy, and it just doesn't AF/track well with the 5d series especially in anything other than perfect light. The 100-400 II with a Canon 1.4x III TC at f/8 AF much better than my Sigma 150-600 ever did. But again, don't take my word for it.

Thank you Adam2 for the comments. I just spent quite a bit of time exploring Art Morris' blog and was impressed with the photos he gets with the 100-400M2 and the 1.4. Of course, I don't have the same camera he uses, but I did have my camera both times rented the 100-400M2. I do believe I am about to just go order that combo.

What camera do you use them on, and have you done any sports in lower light? Just curious how it handled it. I generally would not need the extender for that.

Thanks again!

You would be surprised with less costly cameras the photos that are obtained.  Sure it helps the average photographer, but what counts is the person behind the camera and their ability!  Work on your skill set, when you think the camera is holding you back, work on your skills some more, then 6 months after that look for that newer camera.

its really the photographer.....good luck!  By the way, how many photos did you take yesterday?
