I have the 5D3 and 100-400Mk2 and the combo is fantastic

The only problem you will encounter ( in time) is the relatively low fps of 5D3

Maybe in a couple of years I can spring for a new camera (Three years ago I thought I was getting the most amazing camera around!), but for now, the goal is a lens with more reach.

70-200ISMK2+TC1.4 (I have them) doesn’t beat the 100-400MK2

I have also Sigma 150-600S and while has more reach doesn’t focus as fast as the Canon

Are you using it for wildlife? Birding? Sports?

the TC1.4 will slow the combo and degrade the image

So - you have used the TC 1.4 III on your 100-400M2 and the 5D3 and it degrades the image? That is a bummer, as I was thinking to get the 1.4III to go with the 100-400M2 rather than the Sigma. How do you compare the Sigma vs the 100-400M2 with 1.4III in your own use?

I hope it helps

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback.

Sorry to disagree but you should do some more research and make your own conclusions.  Check out the digital picture for direct comparisons.  Scan the web for photos with the respective lenses.  FWIW Art Morris loves the 100-400 with TC's for his images and it allows for hand holding.  Personally, I can't advocate for the Sigma - it's build quality is iffy, and it just doesn't AF/track well with the 5d series especially in anything other than perfect light.  The 100-400 II with a Canon 1.4x III TC  at f/8 AF much better than my Sigma 150-600 ever did.  But again, don't take my word for it.
