Hi, which is the smallest flash with the ability to tilt head? you would recommend for xt20?

This is my portable camera setup so, really want to keep it small.

TÍA,

Thank you RC62,

Do you know where I can learn some more about Godox inter brand compatibility ? Does it mean I can use the unit on multiple cameras?

Again thanks

If you buy a Fujifilm version of the Godox/Flashpoint on camera flash, it will only work for Fujifilm cameras.

I’ve always thought the little Ef-x20 would be a Godsend if it had a tilt hinge. Then again for street fill flash it is fine. That tiny Metz unit suggested above looks nice though! Kind of what I had in mind.

For small tilt/swivel, I like:
  1. Nissin i60A
  2. Nissin i40
  3. Godox T350F
I love the dials of the Nission i40 and i60A which are very much like the Fujifilm EF-20X in that you can glance at the dials to figure out mode and flash compensation settings. I wish these models were user firmware upgradeable. So if you buy Nissin, make sure the flash has the latest firmware pre-installed for HSS compatibility.

I have settled on Godox because I can upgrade the flash and they are so inexpensive, have a lithium battery powered model (no more bulky 8x AA battery packs), and can be user firmware upgraded.

There is also the Fujifilm EF-20 flash...
That flash doesn't tilt nor swivel.

I love using mine on the end of a hot shoe extension cable.
Tilts yes but doesn't swivel. Click the link above and it tells you 90 degree tilt. Does really need to swivel too IMO.

The Meike/Neewer MK320 will both tilt and swivel for bounce flash.
Oops. I got the EF-20 mixed up with the EF-20X. As you've said, the EF-20 does tilt.

Was never a fan of the EF-20 Sunpak looking model and I regret ever wasting my money buying one.

Be careful with Meike/Neewer MK320. The ones with older date of manufacture (sold e.g. 2 years ago for X-T1) do not work properly with the X-T2/T20 and requires a firmware update. Than you have to send the flash to the manufacturer in China for the firmware update.

The Flashpoint mini recommended by first responder works great. It is just a rebranded Godox. it also can be an on camera commander for ANY of the Godox 2.4 flashes. It controls their ad200 in high speed sync and ttl. The ad200 is a sweet little flash - about 3.0 times as powerful as a full size Speedlight like the Nikon SB 5000 and can adapt to mount in about any softbox or whatever, can be stacked to increase power and more...

No. It usually means you can use the same unit off-camera over radio in TTL/HSS within the five systems Godox supports (Canon, Nikon, Sony, MFT, Fuji), if you use a Godox X transmitter and the built-in radio trigger in the flash.

However. There are two pieces in the system that don't do cross-brand TTL: the TT350 and the X1R receivers. If I use a TT350-O as an off-camera radio slave to an XPro-C trigger on my 5DMkII, I do not get TTL. I do, however, get remote power control and HSS. Most of us would use a TT350 on-camera and possibly as a radio master or a radio slave in the same system, rather than a cross-system slave.

The TT685 and V860II (the full-sized speedlights), however, should give cross-brand TTL. The system dedication is only for the foot of the flash on a camera hotshoe. And the bigger bare bulb flashes and studio strobes are similarly capable of "autoswitching" for cross-brand, even between multiple shooters on the same shoot, sharing lights.

I am, however, having weird issues trying to use my TT685-C as an off-camera slave to my TT350-O on my GX-7 and only get TTL/HSS if I'm shooting in dark situations (indoors, at night; [facepalm]. Flashpoint support is stumped). But. The $65 TT600 single-pin manual-only flashes work great as slaves to either the XPro-C on my 5DMkII, or the TT350-O on my GX-7 with remote power control and HSS. And I plan on getting an XPro-F to do this from my X100T. With the same speedlights.

Thank you for such detailed explanation. I am new to flash photography, have only used bounced flash before!

Many thanks to all.
It seems the TT350 is. Is there any difference between th Godox and the Flashpoint branded?

Thanks

Not mechanically/electronically, as far as we can tell. You can use the firmware upgrades from one on the other. And they do integrate across the branding (i.e., you can use them and the Neewer/Cheetah/etc. etc. rebrands all together).

The main difference between Flashpoint and Godox comes in if you run into an issue with the unit. If you send an email to [email protected] for Flashpoint support, you'll get a reply. If you send an email to [email protected], you typically won't get any reply.

The only incompatible versions of Godox rebranded gear are the Broncolor RFS 2.2 triggers, which have been specifically modified to be compatible with Broncolor lights; but as they cost twice as much, unless you're a Broncolor shooter, you're unlikely to be considering them. :)
