Re: Is Panasonic gear's reliability and durability levels comparable to Canon/Nikon gear?

Panasonic has been in the video camera business for many years...and selected lenses from Panasonic carry the Leitz name.  If it is good enough for Leica, it is fine with me.  As a former Leica, Nikon and Hasselblad user (all tough as nails pre digital) I can happily report that only one Nikon had a problem.  I have used Panasonic since the beginning of M43 and before that with a succession of bridge cameras and had no problems.  However, I do not treat my equipment like junk and I do make a point of cleaning said equipment.  When it leaves me (for a good home), it looks new and operates reliably.  I also read and preserve all manuals to aid the unenlightened.  Short answer is that the stuff is built well, but not for throwing off a cliff or backing a truck over.  It is built of the same materials as Canikons but it weighs less in most cases because it is physically smaller.  Less likely to damage your back or saw though the skin on your neck.
