5D4 Video and FCPX
Hi all, Im blown away by the video in my new 5D4. I mainly take vids of kids and friends and use FCPX to edit. Im not very knowledgable about video compression and formats and have always just used the standard share options (to apple devices in the past).
As you all know the file sizes are huge (Im shooting 1080p 60fps and have been thinking about 4K MJPEG) and I just noticed they came out with a new version of Compressor for FCPX that allows you to export to Apple's new H.265/HEVC file format which is supposed to produce smaller sizes but maintain quality.
My question is, is it worth spending $50 to get Compressor to do this if I want smaller sizes but still maintain video quality (I realize there could be some loss but as long as not really that noticeable than Im happy)? And does compressing an already compressed video format like H.264/mpeg even make sense?
Thanks for the insight!
