A7R3 sensor design question

First of all, this is not a scare post nor a "Sony is sh*t", etc etc. I'm genuinely interested in if this is a design choice or a faulty sensor on my camera.

I noticed (by complete chance while configuring the camera) that bright lights causes overflow and false colors, much like how plasma screens behave (bright lights against darker backgrounds causes a shadow across the frame).

I doubt this is a broken sensor, but I'm interested in hearing other peoples experience, I never noticed this with A7R2 (never shot anything resembling this either).

The photo shows it very clearly, it goes across the entire frame, it doesn't matter if I over expose in camera or push the raw files, the effect is the same (which makes sense, the overflow would be identical up to a limit).

I asked a friend who has the GH5 to test the same scenario and he didn't see anything at all resembling this, but different sensor, different design etc.
