What photo editing software for Win 10 to use?

I am currently use Zoner Photo Studio X and it is frankly too complicated for my needs. I find myself going back to earlier versions that were simpler. However, these earlier versions are no longer supported and sometimes are balky under Win 10.

I need suggestions for a new editor. I DO NOT WANT/NEED any photo organizer component (unless it can be ignored). I DO NOT WANT/NEED specialty filters and glitzy drawing tools.

I take pictures of ships and I simply organize them by vessel type in folders that are ordered alphabetically by name. That is all the organizing I need.  I want a simple tool to open JPEG photos and edit them for contrast, sharpness, saturation, temperature, exposure, lightening shadows, black point, white point, cropping, etc. I want some removal tools to get rid of extraneous items like wires or telephone poles on occasion.  It would be nice to get a histogram. That's about it. I just want to edit and improve my JPEG pictures; I don't want/need to do any artistics/fanciful alterations. I don't need a raw editor.

I would prefer a program I can buy rather than pay monthly or yearly lease fees. Zoner Photo Studio version 17 (my current preferred program) is a very powerful editor with healing brushes, clone stamp, magnetic lassos, layers, etc. I don't use these features much but I certainly don't want any barebones program.  I would prefer a program that puts the most useful photo editing tools center stage, but might have some more advanced editing tools available if needed. I emphasize editing, rather than artistic or altering tools.

I know this is a long post, and if you have got this far and know of some program(s) that might suit my needs, I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.
