Re: Decent lens, but far from perfect...

I made those two photos at the store comparing four 18-55 zooms because I thought that something is wrong with my lens. The day before I made 300 shots comparing Sigma and Fujinon, where all my photos showed the same results as in this picture, Sigma was noticeably sharper.

My tests included many different scenarios, targets, charts, and distances, both with the same settings, and with some compensations because Fuji "cheats" about their ISO values, and the results were always the same, Sigma shows much more fine details, some things that simply do not exist on Fuji files.

After few days of testing I concluded that I entered the loop, so I decided to sell Nikon gear and go to Fuji, because pixel peeping is not photography, and I need small and nice camera like X-T20 which I really like. That is why I do not have those test shots anymore to post here, the only thing left is those few shots from the store where I wanted to test four 18-55 and then Sigma, those files were on my laptop.

So this is not the best example, but PLEASE look at the text on the left and how sharper, more detailed the Sigma is. Please do not tell me it is because of the noise because it is not, I clearly see the text without any blur, but Fujinon lens is much softer. As I said, the same happened in my test shots with base ISO 100 and 200, The Sigma is simply far superior in capturing fine details.

This was shot from 3.5 meter distance with a tripod. In both shots the focus is on the Vanguard logo, and at that distance there is almost 50 centimeters DOF, so it is impossible that Fuji missed by that much. Also as I already said, I made multiple shots and all of them shows the same.

And please read my posts no matter how hard it might be because of my broken English. There is no workflow. Those examples are not processed , cooked,  or sharpened, I am talking about the lens and RAW data from the sensor, what the lens is offering as a starting point.
