New Darktable 2.4.0 rc0 released
1

Hi all,

Not sure if anyone but me is using Darktable, but if you're on Ubuntu it's one of the few really good choices for a Lightroom alternative. It's actually better than Lightroom for a lot of reasons but that's another discussion.

Just wanted to mention here that they have a new 2.4.0 release out which - among other good things, now have support for compressed RAF files. This has been a problem for many until now, myself included, forcing users to use third party tools for converting the RAF files to DNG and from there into Darktable. So now there really is no excuse not to use it

They also have a new X-Trans demosaicing algorithm called Frequency Domain Chroma. I'm not sure how well it compares to the supremely excellent Iridient X-Transformer/Developer code - perhaps someone can do a comparison.

Anyway - try it out if you like.
