Leaving Nikon N1 system for SL2 kit and lenses

I've been with the Nikon N1 system for many years now. It worked well and was compact but Nikon seems to be letting it die. No new lenses I think it really needed and it has had reliability issues with lenses. I'll sell off two of my three lenses and keep my S1 and standard zoom lens as a fairly compact camera.

Anyhow, I'm considering the SL2 kit with the standard zoom and 55-250 stm lens. Down the road, I'd like to invest in the 10-18 and 50mm stm that comes together in a kit. Now on to the questions!

1) Given the above, do you think the 24mm pancake lens would be a useful addition?

2) What is the battery life you get shooting video?

3) do you feel the control layout is good? (I have to dive into the menu to set anything on the S1)

4) Any issues with reliability?

Thanks for your time.

ps: first logon here in over 2 years!
