Olympus 45 1.2. Pro lens grade or Coke bottle grade?
2

I have just taken a look at the samples DPR posted of the Olympus 45 1.2

My goodness what utterly disastrous purple fringing with the out of camera JPEGs in the first couple of shots. What went wrong here with this lens camera combination, it seems the JPEG engine in the camera has not corrected for CA’s like most RAW software does when one shoots RAW.

I hardly ever shoot JPEG so I do not know what corrections are done in camera with JPEG.

A lens like this that produces CA’s like that cannot be called a “consumer grade” lens let alone a “pro lens”. This is a “Coke bottle” grade lens.

Without correction this lens is utterly unusable for landscape.

I know some Panasonic lenses do not have software correction for fringing when used on some Olympus cameras which is understandable when mixing brands. But surly Olympus could have sorted things out before organising a press event with this lens, with those disastrous results for all the world to see.

What went wrong with that shoot?
