Nikon mirrorless and adapting non-nikon lenses

Hi folks,

Just wondering, at the moment I use the Sony A7rii and metabone adapter.  This allows me to use Canon glass. But also you can get adapters for Nikon lenses onto the Sony mirrorless.

STUPID question from me,  when Nikon eventually brings out their mirrorless camera (hopefully in 2018),  do you think there will be adapters that can allow the use of Canon glass et al. ?  So it may not be as versatile as Sony or canon mirrorless cameras, in terms of use of other maker lenses.  I am not sure this is physically possible - maybe some sort of lens element to converge the light rays to a smaller opening???

Anyone any thoughts?
