Getting sued for taking photos!!!

Hey everyone!

I'm interested in starting a Facebook page and or a portfolio website for my horse photography work, but I have one concern.

I know that there are a lot of copyright laws regarding the photographer and people stealing a photographers photos and such, but are there any laws that state whether or not you can post photos of somebody else horses online without asking for permission to post online. I always shoot at public barns (public environment) so it is not on someones private property.

Does anyone have any experience with something like this? Do I need to ask before posting every single time? Can I get in trouble doing this? Please let me know, I do not want to get into something potentially dangerous!

Thanks!
