I was having lunch at a local seafood restaurant on the way to the beach, and had my Fuji and the TG5 with me for the trip. I took some casual portraits using both cameras, and here's two taken in the same light of a similar scene.

It's not a super scientific comparison, but both are sooc jpegs using aperture priority, resized to similar sizes for posting. Both were on auto iso capped at iso 1000.

Fuji: iso 200 f1.4 35mm prime apsc sensor

Olympus: iso 1000 f3.5 10.2 mm zoom 1 2/3 compact sensor

No surprise that the XE-2, with a sharp, bright prime is the better IQ, and the narrow DOF also helps, plus the white balance looks nicer to my eyes. But I reckon the tg5 did well for a small sensor, zoom lens, waterproof camera. If the aim of a 'carry everywhere' tough camera is to capture the moment whatever the conditions, then it does a good job. If I'd shot raw and tweaked the tones, the differences would be even less.

Pretty decent results on the TG-5 considering the comparison of the two shows a large difference in ISO settings. I would have liked to see the results of the TG-5, against the Fuji, had you used the same 200 ISO setting.
