however, I'm not prepared to spend another $300 US dollars to purchase the Gitzo leveling base and bowl so that I level my new gimbal head. Eventually, I may have to, but I'm not feeling it right now.

So don't. If I were to buy a levelling base today, I'd get the RRS TA-3 with a short handle and 3/8 stud for $200. Made to fit the Gitzo Systematic 3. (and 4 series too I presume if the Sys 3 and 4 share the same diameter top plate.) Using a gimbal without an LB: You either have to level the legs (which is annoying after a while), keep the tripod collar loose, or accept that horizon isn't level and correct it in post.

You already have high-end legs.....what's another $200?!?! It's Xmas!!! lol!

The Gitzo leveling base (GSLVLS) for their Systematic tripods, is great. You can use it interchangeably between series 2,3,4,and 5. That said, it works hand-in-hand with the proper video half-bowl. Series 2, 3, and 4, use the same GS3321V75 75mm half-bowl,,, and the 5-series, with its' larger diameter spider, requires the GS5321V75 75mm half-bowl, which has a larger outside diameter.

I bought my half-bowls and leveling base through Gitzospares.com (in the U.K.). They had the best prices (at that time), and service was very quick. I ordered very late on a Friday night, and my goods arrived Monday afternoon. (I'm in Quebec,Canada)
