Different exposure, same settings

Take a look at these to images:

These two are slightly edited. But the bottom one is much brighter than the upper one. Before edit, the differences are only visible at the pavewalk. Probably from the sun reflecting the truck. But when I edit, especially with highlights, it's clearly visible at the sky and pavewalk. Even if the edit is similar, the sky in the bottom image won't darken as much as the upper image. Why is that so?
I shoot manual mode.
