Canon 700D - exposure issue - repair or replace?

Hi All,

I have an EOS 700D which is 4 years old, much loved, and has probably taken around 300,000 to 400,000 photos. I unfortunately dropped it recently - it fell approx 5ft from my backpack onto the gravel, landing on the lens. The only damage appeared to be the UV filter which was cracked but otherwise it seemed to work OK.

Unfortunately since the drop it has been consistently overexposing in auto modes - I frequently use Sports/Action mode, or Aperture priority, to compose images on the move or in a situation where I need to shoot quickly (e.g. near traffic). This has made getting reliable photos rather difficult.

Here are 2 comparison images, taken using the Actions/Sports setting in similar light conditions before and after the drop:

I did take it to my local camera repair place but the repairer seemed to think there was nothing wrong with it. From reading elsewhere online I thought it might be that the exposure sensor has been damaged or misaligned somehow as a result of the impact - is that likely? If yes, is it easily repairable?

If it isn't repairable, I have been thinking about upgrading for a little while but the things I really love about this camera are:

1. The articulating screen makes it really handy to photograph documents or from awkward angles

2. The 18-135mm lens is great for most of my shooting, altho occasionally I wish it was a bit wider

3. Battery life is fantastic, which is great when I'm taking 1,000 photos in a day

The drawbacks are:

1. The Live View does not work particularly well in outdoor environments - e.g. putting the camera through/over a fence. Works great indoors (e.g. photographing documents) but outside its unreliable from both focus and exposure perspectives IMO

2. Not full frame, so it struggles a bit in low light

3. Occasional difficulty in getting accurate focus in low light

Based on the above, where should I be looking to upgrade to? Price range is below $2k Australian, even better if I could just replace the body and keep the existing lens.

Thank you very much for any help.
